Take the tempeh out of the package and cut in half. Add tempeh in a sauce pan with vegetable broth and bring to a boil, then reduce to a rolling simmer. Simmer for 15-30 minutes
After tempeh has simmered, add your favorite marinade. BBQ sauce is the easiest. If you have time, let the tempeh marinate in the sauce for at least 30 minutes, overnight is best.
After the tempeh has marinated (if you had the time) you can prepare it on the stove, bake or grill it.
To prepare it on the stove, put a saute pan on medium heat and add 1-2 tablespoons of oil. Once the pan is hot, add the tempeh. Cook on each side for about 5 minutes, or until bbq sauce becomes caramelized and tempeh is warmed through. Add more bbq sauce or marinade if it gets dried out.
To bake the tempeh, heat oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit. Put tempeh on a lined baking sheet and bake for 20-30 minutes, or until sauce is caramelized. Apply more bbq sauce or marinade if it gets dried out.
To grill the tempeh, heat a grill on medium heat. Once the grill is hot, add the tempeh. Cook on each side for about 5 minutes. Add more BBQ sauce or marinade if it starts to dry out.
